Poly-aluminum silicate sulphate (PASS) was synthesized in a mixed aqueous solution of sodium silicate and aluminum silicate via a sol–gel method for use in ultra-low density fiberboard (ULDF). The preparation conditions were optimized by using response surface methodology.
