Chromic acid has the hypothetical structure H 2 CrO 4 . Neither Chromic Acid nor Dichromic Acid occurs in nature. Chromium Trioxide (CrO 3 ) is the Anhydride state of Chromic Acid, traded industrially as Chromic Acid. CrO3 is a solid, red, strongly hygroscopic, easily soluble in water. As an acid oxide, reacts with H2O to create acid: CrO 3 + H2O => H 2 CrO 4 (A lot of water) => H 2 Cr 2 O 7. Is a strong oxidizer, easily oxidizes a number of inorganic and organic substances.
