Ammonium sulfamate is a white crystalline solid, readily soluble in water. It is commonly used as a broad spectrum herbicide, with additional uses as a compost accelerator, flame retardant and in industrial processes.

Fertial, Algerian Fertilizer Company, is a company resulting from a partnership between the Algerian Asmidal Group and the Spanish Grupo Villar Mir Group. The production facility, installed in the Annaba and Arzew industrial sites, has an annual capacity of one million tonnes of ammonia. Part of this production is reused for the production of a varied range of nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers intended to cover a large part of the needs of Algerian agriculture. Also, FERTIAL exports part of its ammonia and fertilizer production to various foreign markets.
