Hydrogen Peroxide is a chemical compound. It is a very pale blue liquid,  used as an oxidizer, bleaching agent, and antiseptic.

It decomposes slowly into water and elemental oxygen when exposed to light, and rapidly in the presence of organic or reactive compounds. Hydrogen peroxide is found in biological systems including the human body.

Chemical  Formula - H2O2

  • Uses -

Hydrogen peroxide is used in many industries like textiles and paper, as a component of rocket fuels, and for producing foam rubber and organic chemicals. It's also used in the medicine sector and to bleach clothes and hair.

Hydrogen peroxide is seen as an environmentally safe alternative to chlorine-based bleaches, as it degrades to form oxygen and water and it is generally recognised as safe and an antimicrobial agent by the U.S. Food and Drug administration (FDA).

It’s also used by  horticulturists in watering solutions because its spontaneous decomposition releases oxygen that enhances a plant's root development and helps to treat root rot and a variety of other pests.

  • Market -

The global Hydrogen Peroxide market has swelled to reach demand of approximately 4400 thousand tonnes in 2022 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.88% during the forecast period until 2032.
