Diethyl ether (analytical grade) is an aliphatic ether. A very mobile, volatile liquid with a peculiar odor and pungent taste. Decomposes when exposed to light, heat, air and moisture to form toxic aldehydes, peroxides and ketones that irritate the respiratory tract.
