Ammonium persulfate is an ammonium salt of peroxodisulfuric acid with the formula (NH₄)₂S₂O₈, colorless monoclinic crystals, highly soluble in water. It is used in the etching of printed circuit boards (replaces ferric chloride), and also as an accelerator of polymerization and condensation processes in the production of synthetic rubbers, latexes and plastics, in photography, as a bleaching agent, and in the food industry it is known as a food additive.
